How to Reset a Roomba 650

This a simple 7 step procedure.

Steps:

  • Remove the Roomba vacuum from it’s charge base.
  • You have to turn on your Roomba 650 by pressing the “clean” button.
  • Press and hold the “Spot” and “Dock” buttons (that are placed above and below the “clean” button) for ten seconds.
  • Release both buttons at the same time and you will hear the sound of your Roomba starting up
  • Now place your Roomba 650 back in it’s charging station until the green light surrounding the “clean” button is lit.
  • Your Roomba is ready to go.
  • Now set the time, date and schedule again.
  • Hopefully resetting your Roomba will solve any performance issues that you might have.

But if your problems continue and you think they might be battery related, it could be that you need to take better care of your vacuum’s battery.

Why does my Roomba not charge?

If your Roomba 650 still does not work properly after the reset and does not charge even though it is connected to its Base Station, either the Base Station contacts or the Roomba contacts may be dirty, preventing power from being transmitted.

So the very first thing to do is to clean the contacts. It can happen that during a cleaning cycle dust and dirt accumulate at these places and thus prevent the current transmission and thus the charging of the battery.

When cleaning, however, remember that your Roomba 650 is an electronic device and that you do not work with too much water. It is best if you use a slightly damp cloth and wipe off the contacts so that they are clean again.

For coarser dirt, it is usually enough to just walk your finger over it and clean the contacts with your finger. When cleaning the contacts, make sure that the charging station current is not plugged in.
