Akatsuki No Yona Dragons

Overview[]

The Dragon Warriors are linked to the legend of King Hiryuu, the red dragon god who descended from heaven to become a human. They are given the duty to protect and never to betray him till the end of their lives. Each one of them has a part of a dragon’s body that houses their particular powers:

Shin-Ah also continues to wear the mask his village forced on him out of fear that his cursed and dangerous eyes will hurt those around him. He only uses them to protect Yona and his friends, where he has the power to cause hallucinations and paralyze an opponent with his gaze. He gradually opens up to the others as they encourage him to express himself and teach him that he isnt cursed, but blessed.

Jae-Ha finally agrees to join Yona after witnessing her bravery and determination first-hand, both on the cliff to obtain a life-saving plant and during her undercover mission to stop human trafficking. Not only does he grow fond of Yona and start to treat the Dragon Warriors as his brothers, but he also becomes best friends with Hak.

Unlike Kija, Shin-Ah was neither admired nor celebrated by his village for possessing the power of a dragon. Instead, they despise the Blue Dragon Warrior spirit and view it as a curse that theyre forced to suffer. Since the village fears the spirits power, they force him to wear a mask at all times to cover up his eyes that wield his unique powers. Ironically, Shin-Ah uses his dragon powers to protect the very village that abuses him and defeats an entire troop with just his eyes, making the villagers fear him even more. Without friends or even a name, they isolate him and make him live in darkness with only a squirrel to keep him company.

Yona of the Dawns Jae-Ha is the Green Dragon Warrior who wields his power in his right leg, essentially giving him the ability to fly by jumping high and over long distances. Like Shin-Ah, the people of Jae-Has village feared his power and locked him away during his childhood. The village believed he would bring unwanted attention if outsiders found out about him. After being mistreated and imprisoned, Jae-Ha escapes his home at 12 years old and joins a pirate crew led by Captain Gi-Gan, who becomes a motherly figure to him.

Zeno becomes the fourth and final Dragon Warrior to join Yonas party, instantly agreeing to their mission after they offer him food in the forest. While he typically hides his wisdom and maturity behind a youthful façade, he often acts as a peacemaker when others are fighting. He is incredibly intuitive and even has foresight, able to sense a persons nature and future. Zeno doesnt age and has the power to regenerate parts of his body with yellow dragon scales whenever he suffers an injury. Despite being a pacifist, he protects Yona and the others when they cant protect themselves.

Jae ha is our third dragon, the green dragon. Unlike our first two dragons who didnt like their lives before Yona came along, Jae ha is perfectly happy the way he is. He spends his time running from Yona and the other dragons, trying to avoid his destiny to help them, and in the process trying to make Hak his best friend. Jae ha doesnt let us see his past, but we can assume from small s that his life was much like Shinahs, spent in chains. However, Jae ha is strong and he sees his gift as power for him, so he broke free from his chains and escaped his town so that he could become a pirate. Always traveling on the sea and never staying in one place, he assumed that the dragons would never find him… but he was wrong. Kija tracks Jae ha with his sense and, while they try to track down his location, Jae ha senses him as well trying to run away. This continues until he gets stuck in a pot (literally) and can no longer escape his fate. He should be bound to Yona, and yet he still tries to escape. Yona isnt a quitter though, so she takes on a deadly challenge by his captain in order to gain his trust and eventually get him to agree to come with them.

Jae ha is a bit of a tsundere, never admitting how much he truly cares, but he quickly grows fond of all of his new companions (especially Hak). He adds a new element of strength to their crew and together they head off to face new battles and new enemies and find the fourth dragon… whos a little closer then they think.

From this day on, Kija joins Yonas band of companions and they continue on her journey to take back her kingdom together. At first, Kija is trying to get the hang of living in the wild, eating bugs and whatever fish or small rodents can be caught and always sleeping on the floor. Even though its tough, Kija never leaves. He stays by Yonas side throughout her journey as he had vowed to do and he slowly falls for Yonas beautiful soul (whether or not he romantically falls is sort of up to you to decide). He comes to love Yona and always wants to protect her, becoming quite the rival for Hak along the way.

When Shinah first joins Yonas group, he doesnt even have something as simple as a name. All hes ever known is the title Blue Dragon; so, Yona decides to name him Shinah, after the moon. From then on, he slowly starts to open up and begins to learn new things about both himself and the world outside of his village. Most importantly, he learns that he is not cursed, he has a gift to see, and he will use it to protect Yona.

When Shinah meets Yona, he doesnt speak to her because he fears that he will hurt her, even though he just saved her life. He goes back into hiding, until suddenly an earth quake separates her from her companions and Shinag is the only one who can help them find a way out of the caves. Because of his help, many families and villagers were saved from dying of a lack of oxygen in the caves, but instead of praising him the villagers blame him for the earthquake and curse him. Yona asks Shinah to come with her, and at first he is too scared to leave and too scared that if he does he will hurt her. However, he eventually decides to go along and add another companion to their group.
