Below are some frequently asked questions that get fielded by our customer service staff. Take a look, the questions you have may just be answered below!

WILL THE POLYLOK SEPTIC TANK LID FIT DIRECTLY ON THE ADAPTER RING OR DO I NEED TO USE A RISER?

In most cases the lid will fit directly onto the adapter rings, with the exception of the 24 Heavy Duty Lid. The 24 Heavy Duty Lid is reinforced on the bottom. This reinforcement is actually taller than what the adapter ring is. Because of this, the 24 Heavy Duty Lid will only fit on the adapter ring directly if your opening is at least 24 in diameter. Any opening smaller than 24 diameter and the lid will not fit. ALL other Polylok lids will attach directly to the adapter ring without the need for a riser.

No. The Polylok riser system comes in 6 and 12 increments and it cannot be cut down to height. Cutting the riser will cause the lid to not secure properly to the cut down riser.

It is your own personal choice to bring the riser system to grade, above grade, or leave it just below grade. The riser system seals air tight and water tight, so there is no danger in bringing it to or above grade.

The standard lid is strong enough to handle foot traffic and weight up to a small riding lawn mower passing over it. If the riser system is in a high traffic area, or is going to be ran over on a regular basis by lawn equipment, we would recommend the heavy duty lid.

Yes. You can stack pretty much any combination of the Polylok Septic Tank Risers to acheive the desired height.

The following equation can be used to get the diagonal distance of a square access port. Let “a” be the length of one side of the access port. Then let “b” be the length of the side perpendicular to side “a”. The following equations will only give you the actual diagonal distance when the length of “a” is equal to the length of “b”. For instance, A is 12 inches and B is 12 Inches. The user would take 12 and multiply it by 1.141 that gives the user a distance of 17 inches.

Septic tanks are typically placed below ground level. This requires that they must be unearthed in order to be serviced. The way to combat this problem is to install a riser kit. The riser itself is a ring that is meant to extend the tank access port to ground level. An adaptor ring should be placed where the riser comes into contact with the tank. A sealant should be placed on the bottom of the adaptor ring to ensure contaminants cannot enter the tank. A number of risers will stack on top of each other and the adaptor ring until they reach ground level. A domed or flat septic tank cover should be placed upon the stack of risers. This system will create a barrier to protect the tank from contaminants and allow easier access to the tank.

The equations above can be used to approximate the diagonal distance of a rectangle. Using the longest side of your access port in the before mentioned equations will provide a distance that is greater than the actual diagonal distance of your rectangular access port. Only risers with an inner diameter that is greater than the diagonal distance of the access port should be used.

There may be times when you are unable to measure the distance the riser needs to cover, but you still know the dimensions of the access port. This method will require that you know the length of each side of your rectangular access port. You may recall Pythagorean theorem form your geometry course.
