How To Make Taco Bell Sauce Costume

My roommates from school and I decided to get creative and go as taco bell sauce packets. We went to the fabric store and got the colors that we needed. We used a thicker shirt material that stretched. We also go white fabric to do the lettering and saying with. We then measured the fabric on our bodies and cut out two identical pieces (make sure you measure because the top will be smaller then the bottom). after, we put the pieces together and folder it over about a half an inch. We then made slits into the fabric with a scissors and laced it up like a shoe string with ribbon. We then cut out letters for our sauce packet names, a section for the saying, and a “think outside the bun” for the back side. We then looked up sayings online and put them on our costumes! They took us a while to make but it was worth it with all of the compliments we got 🙂

1. Decide how big you want the overall packet to be (length: should be from your knees to shoulders, width: measure shoulder to shoulder and add a foot). 2. Whatever that measurement is, cut out two pieces of fabric that size. 3. Cut 4 strips that measure 4” x 12”. You will 2 together to make the straps of the costume. 4. Cut a zig zag at the top to create the top of the actual sauce packet. 5. Place the front of the fabric together and sew the sides so that the top and bottom are still open. 6. Try it on to make sure it fits and then make a mark where you want the straps to go. 7. Take the costume off and sew the straps on. 8. Find the font used for “Border Sauce Mild,” and “Think Outside the Bun,” online, type it up and then cut out the letters. 9. Pin the letters to fusible fabric and cut them out (make sure they are backwards so when you iron them to the front, the letters aren’t backwards). 10. Iron the letters on packet in the appropriate places. 11. Cut out a rectangle for the quote to go on and iron that to fusible fabric. 12. Find Taco Bell logo online and print it on an iron-on transfer. 13. Pick a phrase that you want to go on the front. I used, “Eat, Drink and Be Scary!” 14. Type up the phrase you selected and the ingredients information (from an actual sauce packet) and print them on an iron-on transfer 15. Iron the iron-on transfers to the costume in the appropriate places.

Im so irritated! I made this costume for my 1 year old.. I always try to find original costumes for my children.. And I searched high and low all over the internet to find a taco bell packet costume.. And could only find the college humor guys w/ sweats.. I wanted something that actually resembled a taco bell packet! .. So I went to a local fabric store.. Found some AMAZING material and thought.. I want this material more stiff a plyable… So I got the fusible material.. Which I thought was oh so ool.. Went to walmart and bought iron on transfers.. And voila! We had an ORIGINAL taco bell packet costume! I just happened to have my taco bell packet search still on google.. And I happened to click on and what pops up?!? “how to make a taco bell packet costume”.. On instructables.. Blah! As easy as it was to make… I still thought I had an original costume since I couldnt find anything on the internet for it.. And it would have been awesome to get the font.. I ended up having to hand draw the message out.. Bc I didnt have the font! 🙁 all in all it was a great costume.. And how crazy is that.. That I made it before it was posted on instructables.. To a “T” as explained.. Minus font.. Weird..

the costume I made wasnt like a “dress” like this instructables costume.. I made holes in the sides of the packet for my 1 year to stick his arms through .. Resembling more of a taco bell packet.. Another added touch that we did was paint his face and sppiked his hair orange! .. It makes for a better effect! 🙂
