Shrine Of Boethiah Location

The Skyrim quest Boethiahs Calling has players sacrifice a follower for a Daedric Prince, but some followers are more deserving than others.

Boethiah, Skyrims Daedric Prince of Conspiracy and Deceit, has a simple task for the Dragonborn to have a chance at becoming his champion: bring a follower to the Shrine of Boethiah, then sacrifice them. Its a simple enough request at heart, but its hard to make the choice to permanently kill someone who decided to follow the Dragonborn in their adventures across Skyrim.

Luckily, there are a few followers that make the decision on who to sacrifice a little bit easier. Some Skyrim followers are downright bad people who betrayed the Dragonborn or break into the homestead to “visit” their wife long after marriage. Others are simply the easiest followers to find on short notice or followers whose deaths wont impact the world significantly.

Updated June 3, 2022 by Erik Petrovich: Boethiahs Calling is one of Skyrims most infamous quests. In this quest, players are tasked with sacrificing a follower to the Daedric Prince Boethiah. The problem is, there are a lot of followers to choose from in the game. Some are obvious, like Ralis Sedarys, while others feel morally ambiguous, like fellow College of Winterhold students. When it comes to who to sacrifice to Boethiah in Skyrims Boethiahs Calling quest, the easier the follower to acquire the faster the quest can be completed. As such, all followers who can be hired for a small 500 Gold fee are great options for the Boethiahs Calling sacrifice. Most of the followers listed here have a decent reason behind their being chosen for death.

“Boethiahs Calling” is the name of the quest given to players from the eponymous Daedric Prince upon reaching the Sacellum of Boethiah. The player must be at least Level 30 for the quest to begin at all, otherwise the Sacellum will be totally empty.

You can find the shrine to Boethiah at the Sacellum of Boethiah east of Windhelm and north-northeast of Narzulbur. You can only receive this quest once you reach level 30, so level up if you haven’t already or you will NOT recieve the quest upon arriving.

Location[]

From Windhelm, travel northeast until passing Hlaalu Farm and Hollyfrost Farm. Keep following the road east and stay slightly to the right until one comes upon Traitors Post, a bandit hideout. There is a fork in the road here; stay to the right until parallel to the road the Dragonborn was just on and traveling west.

On approach, the sky will slowly turn to night, regardless of whether it is day. A scavenger and troll may be encountered on this road. Many burned bodies are lying around the Sacrificial Pillar meaning that a lot of people have been sacrificed before.

Amenities[]

The Daedric markings on the pillar read:

This translates to:

“I am alive because that one is dead.

I exist because I have the will to do so.”

Teldryn Sero, To End His Pompous Attitude

Teldryn Sero was a follower introduced in the Dragonborn DLC that took players to Solstheim. Players never see his face, and he always has something snarky to say or a sly disparaging remark to hurl the players way.

He can be hired in the Retching Netch in Raven Rock for a pretty nominal fee. While he has some funny lines of dialogue, if youre looking to spend less than a thousand Gold on this quest, Teldryn Sero is easy to find and bring back to the Sacellum of Boethiah.
