Why Cooking Noodles in the Microwave Works

  • This fast method saves so much time and counter space.
  • All you need for an extremely quick and simple clean-up is a microwave-safe bowl big enough to keep water contained, your choice of noodles, and water.
  • You can make so many different pasta recipes with this back pocket microwave noodle recipe!
  • You don’t need to buy any additional noodles because this will work with any kind of noodle you already have.
  • Our recipe testers state, “We love pasta, especially my little ones. When they get hungry and impatient, I just warm up a sauce while I microwave some noodles, and we have dinner in ten minutes, which is pretty amazing if you ask me.” Given that I live in a dorm, this has changed the game for me. This keeps me from cooking in the common area, which is something I dislike doing.

What Kind of Noodles to Use?

  • The traditional spaghetti noodle is long and thin, with a slightly thicker center than bucatini noodles.
  • Elbows: Although you probably picture the traditional macaroni and cheese, elbows are also incredibly versatile and adorable.
  • Campanelle – This gorgeous noodle is shaped like a screw. These noodles hold up really well, and the sauce seeps into every mouthwatering nook and cranny, so I think this sauce works really well here.
  • Fusilli: This is also referred to as Rotini in the US. These noodles may be seen floating around at a picnic when pasta salad is served.
  • Fettuccini is a pasta dish that is rarely found in Italy; it became popular in America. You may have had Fettuccini Alfredo a time or two! .
  • Linguine – Linguine means little tongues in Italian. It’s almost as flat as fettuccini, but not quite as wide. How fun is that? This type of noodle is common all throughout Italy.
  • Rigatoni: Throughout most of Italy, this stiff, tube-shaped pasta is popular. Rigatoni’s ridge is meant to help a thick sauce adhere to them, and it certainly does!
  • Gemelli – Gemelli comes from the Italian word twins. This noodle, which is typically served with pesto, forms a structure resembling DNA when two small noodles are twisted around one another.
