For a typical 4-ounce frozen burger patty, I find that for a medium burger (pink in the center), cook for 6 minutes. For well done, I try to not go past 8 minutes. I find that cooking any longer than that the burgers will tend to dry out. If you have an instant-read thermometer, you will be looking for a temperature of 160 degrees for well done. The juices should run clear when the burgers are fully cooked. Remember to allow some time for melting the cheese if you opt for cheese. I usually wait to put the cheese on at the end of the cooking process. I generally unplug the grill while the cheese melts, this gives me time to set up my plate, toppings, and buns without overcooking the burgers.
