Because it’s so popular, the chicken seems to often be out of stock

Although Aldi sells this chicken year-round, many Facebook group members claim that the popular item isn’t always in stock.

Fortunately, a new Aldi store is right next to my apartment building, so I was hoping they would have at least one bag of the RBC.

There were numerous varieties of frozen chicken, many of which were already sold out, so I went straight to the freezer aisle to look for the distinctive red bag.

Fortunately, I noticed a good number of red bags still in stock, giving me the reassurance that this Aldi store’s secret had not yet been revealed.

According to the Facebook group comments I read, each bag is supposed to contain 24 ounces, but it appears that most people only receive five to six fillets on average.

At $5. 99, or roughly 25 cents per ounce or $1 for each fillet

There are so many recipes for these fillets, but I chose to make chicken parmesan

Numerous followers of the Facebook group suggested using these fillets with Aldis brioche buns to make an at-home version of a Chick-fil-A sandwich.

But I made chicken parmesan instead, which was another dish that was frequently suggested online. I reasoned that by omitting a bun and using minimal sauce, I would be able to let the breaded fillet truly stand out.

I was pleased to see that the chicken appeared to be thin when I opened the bags and spread the fillets out, increasing the likelihood that they would be crispy when cooked.

For maximum crispiness, many group members advised air-frying these, but I didn’t have one in my kitchen.

Instead, I baked the fillets according to the directions on the package for 35 to 40 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, turning them over after 20 minutes.

Considering that they had been precooked, I was surprised that they took so long to prepare, but I patiently delayed boiling the spaghetti noodles and heating the marinara sauce (I went with Aldis Simply Nature Organic Tomato and Basil sauce) until the very end.

In order for the fresh mozzarella to melt during the final few minutes of baking, I also placed a slice on each piece of chicken.
