Being here and taking part in the 31 Days of Summer Fun for Kids makes me very happy. Kimber is currently packing and moving, as many of you are aware, and she doesn’t have much time for anything else. I find this to be such a fun series, and I can’t wait to use so many wonderful ideas with my own children and my grandchildren. I associate summertime with water, so these Pool Noodle Boats were the ideal project and pastime to partake in. I think you’ll enjoy building and racing the boats as much as we did.
Now comes the fun part. It’s time for the race! We chose to conduct it in the pool with the pump turned on to propel the boats. Using a rain gutter, filled with water, and blowing on the boats’ sails to propel them forward is another entertaining idea. The kids could even enjoy playing with them in the bathtub.
The boys made the sails, but you will need to supervise or make them yourself if you have younger children. Start by cutting the foam pieces in a 3″x4″ rectangle. Fold the sail in half and make a mark for the location of the craft stick slit. To create the sail, cut a slit and insert the craft stick through the foam.

Pool Noodle Boats – A Fun Summer Craft!
One pool noodle can be used to make many boats; just have an adult cut it up, and the kids can help decorate it with a sail, straw, and flag. Pool noodles cut easily with a serrated knife.
This is also a great craft to turn old pool noodles into something new if they are starting to rip in one place.
Then, to ride on your completed boats, grab some water toys, animals, or tiny figurines!
