If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ve undoubtedly heard me talk about my lovely Grandma Hilvia and the meals she used to prepare for us that would heal our souls. Most likely, Grandma was best known for her pies and her renowned cinnamon rolls. Although she passed away two years ago, her cooking techniques and recipes continue to bring happiness and love into my life. Her love language was cooking, and I always saw her put so much love and effort into the food she prepared for others.

Benefits of Bone Broth

Simmering bones, tissue, and joints in water results in the protein-rich, transparent liquid known as bone broth. The length of time needed to simmer the bone broth and extract its many nutritional benefits sets it apart from stock.

Several studies have been conducted on the potential benefits of bone broth. It is believed that bone broth can be anti-aging due to its high collagen content. It is also said, that bone broth is good for gut health as well as the boosting the immune system. To read more on this click here.

For this recipe, I used Smart Chicken’s bone broth. This adds a depth of flavor to the soup that’s hard to resist. I used traditional low sodium chicken stock for the remainder of the soup.

How To Make Chicken Noodle Soup With Bone Broth

Old Fashioned Bone Broth Chicken Noodle Soup: Ingredient list

  • One large rotisserie chicken or two bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts
  • 3 Cups chopped celery
  • 3 Cups chopped carrots
  • Onion and garlic powder and salt
  • Chicken Bouillon paste
  • One batch of egg noodles (recipe below) *You can also buy these frozen at the grocery store, but homemade is always preferable!

How To Make Chicken Noodle Soup With Bone Broth

We enjoy our soup very thick, so I always add three cups of carrots and celery, along with the tender leaves, which add a delicious “herb” flavor. Make sure you buy the big carrot sticks you’ll need to peel. Compared to “baby carrots” or any other pre-peeled and packaged carrots, they are far more flavorful.
