Introduction: How to Make Home-Made Noodles or Dumplings
Making food for Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was younger is one of my favorite holiday memories. The highlight of our celebrations was chicken and dumplings (although some believe this particular type is more like noodles), which were made using a recipe from a cook book that Noah most likely saved on the Ark. These were the only times of the year when my mother would consent to filling the entire kitchen with flour for the sake of delectable food! (It had instructions for plucking your chicken – Seriously. If you don’t mind making a little mess, they’re really simple to make and far superior than store-bought!
Step 1: Mixing the Dough
To begin with, we’ll need a few ingredients to make our dough. If you bake or cook in your home in any capacity, you most likely already have all of the ingredients. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup water, and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (or olive oil, if preferred) Blend all ingredients together in a sizable mixing bowl. Use a spoon or fork to stir. The mess should start to take shape and look clumpy after being moved around for a while.
