How to Make Kylo Ren’s Lightsaber

I really adore this weapon because it was so unique to create.

1. Cut a red pool noodle into a piece measuring 24 inches and a 6 inch piece. 5-inch piece.

While the smaller piece will serve as the crossguard, the longer piece will serve as the main blade and hilt.

2. Mark off both noodle pieces for gouging.

Mark the location of the top of the crossguard on the larger piece first; it should start about 34 of an inch from the top of the hilt. Then measure to 2. 5 inches below that and mark again. Mark off a 2-inch gap in the middle of the smaller piece. 5 inches wide.

Cut each mark to about halfway through the pool noodle with your serrated knife, but do not completely through. Then, to connect these two cuts, make a cut through the center of the pool noodle once on each side. The gouges on the pool noodles should now be easy to remove (you might need to make a few tiny cuts with your knife to pry them loose).

Now that both noodles have been hollowed out, you should be able to press the hollowed-out portions of the small and large noodles together to create the crossguard.

How To Make Lightsabers From Pool Noodles?

Make a diagonal tape loop spanning two corners, cut the tape, and then make another diagonal loop spanning the opposite corners.

They probably don’t fit flush against each other to a 100% degree, but that’s okay. In actuality, doing that simply makes it simpler to thread glow sticks through each length of pool noodle without them snagging on one another.

Put a piece of black tape around the crossguard’s sides after the pieces are joined. After that, you can begin wrapping black around the hilt from top to bottom, stretching and angling it as needed to fit around the crossguard. Just don’t go all the way to the bottom yet!.

4. Electrical tape should be used to cover the hilt’s end in an overlapping pattern.

This tape is much narrower than duct tape, so the snipping and folding technique won’t work.

Instead, simply stack black tape strips on top of one another in a circle to cover the entire end. Keep each piece’s overhang from touching the hilt’s body to a minimum.

After that is finished, keep wrapping your hilt in tape circles until the bottom edge is completely covered.

5. Cut strips from a piece of duct tape after placing it on your cutting board.

You’ll need the strips to be about 7. 5 inches long to wrap around the hilt’s crossguard.

They should be roughly half an inch wide after being reduced, then they should be partially overlapped on the black tape that is already around the smaller noodle.

6. Decorate as desired.

The black hilt will immediately stand out in contrast to the other characters’ lightsabers. I simply added a skewed piece of duct tape and then used thin red electrical tape strips to replicate a few of the red wires that seem to protrude from Kylo Ren’s lightsaber. They are secured in place by tiny silver fasteners that I also cut from scraps of duct tape.
