How To Make Spicy Ramen With Spaghetti Noodles

Recipe Tips & Notes

For this recipe, I am using shrimp, but you can substitute other proteins like chicken, pork, beef, fish, tofu, and more. I love a good chicken ramen or pork ramen. Try this birria ramen recipe, too.

If you have any leftover protein on hand, ramen is ideal. Just toss them into the broth to warm up.

Spicy Ramen Noodles Ingredients

  • Broth. As a base, I use chicken broth, but you can also use vegetable broth. Beef broth works, too, but will have drastically different flavor.
  • Sliced Peppers. You can use milder peppers, like jalapeƱo peppers, but I prefer to use serrano peppers for a good kick of heat. For some striking heat, try habanero, ghost, or scorpion peppers, seven pot peppers, or the Carolina reaper peppers.
  • Fresh Garlic and Ginger. To season the ramen broth, I use minced ginger and mashed garlic, but you can use dried if you’d rather.
  • Gochujang. Three tablespoons of gochujang, or 1/4 cup, to taste. If you’re worried about the gochujang, start with a tablespoon of simmered ramen and make adjustments from there.
  • Chili Crisp. I use one tablespoon of chili crisp; you can also use hot chili oil in its place. The chili crisp works well for adding extra crispy bits and heat. Try my homemade chili crisp recipe.
  • Soy Sauce.
  • Sesame Oil. For those who enjoy spicy food, hot sesame oil works well here, though milder sesame oil will also work.
  • Sambal Oelek. One teaspoon of sambal oelek, or a good substitute would be chili-garlic sauce You can add in more if youd like.
  • Rice Wine Vinegar.
  • Sriracha Sauce. Use your preferred hot sauce or sriracha sauce, according to taste.
  • Ramen Noodles. 4 ounces ramen noodles is perfect for 2 people. Although you could try this with other noodles, instant ramen noodles work best. Or use thin round wheat noodles.
  • Shrimp. Other cooked proteins like chicken, pork, or beef can be substituted. Tofu is popular, though were using shrimp today.
  • Eggs. Use two soft-boiled eggs for garnish and additional flavor, if preferred. Or use these homemade ramen eggs!.
  • For Serving. Sesame seeds, green onions or scallions, hot chili flakes, and freshly chopped parsley

If you are having trouble finding ramen noodles, you can use the pre-made packages of noodles, such as the beef or chicken ramen noodles.

Simply throw away the seasoning packets you add to boiling water and make your own instead. So much better that way!.

This specific recipe will provide you with flavorful, spicy ramen noodles. For a less spicy taste, you can simply reduce the amount of the spicier ingredients.

Add more chili flakes, hotter peppers, minced garlic and ginger, and hot ingredients like gochujang if you’re craving something even spicier in your ramen. Try it with these Japanese “Japones Peppers”. Nice heat!.
