Delta Kitchen Faucet Won’T Swivel

Peerless and Delta faucets have a similar design, because the same company manufactures both brands. That means your Peerless kitchen faucet probably has a ball valve, as opposed to a cartridge, because Delta pioneered this type of faucet. If it has a swivel spout, and the spout wont swivel, you have to remove the ball to make the repair. This isnt difficult, but you may have trouble lifting off the spout, because deteriorating O-rings are probably holding it in place. You have to replace and lubricate these rings to restore the faucet.

What Happens When a Faucet Won’t Turn

The problem involves a sleeve inside the neck of the faucet that, despite its protective intention, has rubbed against the metal. This friction creates an accumulation of debris over time that prevents the sleeve from moving freely. All you have to do is take apart your kitchen faucet and clean inside it.

When a Moen kitchen faucet doesnt swivel, it might look a little different from another brand like Gerber or Kohler. But most differences are purely cosmetic. The basic inner workings of kitchen faucets are the same, so you should be able to follow the same steps, no matter which brand you have. To get started, youll need a flashlight, a flathead screwdriver, a Philips head screwdriver, a set of Allen wrenches, channel locks and an old rag for scrubbing.

You need to remove the pull-out spout and let the hose drop down through the faucet body, remove the lever handle, then unscrew the cap and remove the valve components, then pull directly upwards to remove the spout.

The spout glides on two o-rings; you need to get a small tube of plumbers grease and grease the heck out of the o-rings, then reassemble.

I could go through the disassembly/reassembly steps in detail but it would be a very lengthy process so maybe just watch an internet video on it.

Those joints usually arent user-adjustable, and theyre often a bit snug at first until theyre used a bit.

I suggest that you re-seat the faucet (to get the o-ring into correct position), snug the mounting nut(s) firmly, and see how it operates then.

Do not use regular petroleum-based grease because it may cause deterioration to the o-rings, which can eventually cause them to leak. Test your Delta faucet to see how it operates as it should swivel.

According to the EPA code mandates, all new faucets manufactured since 1994 are restricted to conserve water. Older faucets do not have these restrictions, which is why your new faucet might have reduced water flow in comparison to your older faucet. Beyond the flow restriction, newer installations of faucets can have a reduction of water flow if the water supply lines are not flushed beforehand.

Troubleshooting your Delta faucet starts with inspecting the faucet handles and ensuring they are in a completely closed position. Sometimes you might forget to fully close both sides of a dual-handle faucet system, which may make water drip continuously.

The Delta Faucet Company has a wide variety of faucets for sale, from energy-saving options to designs with high-end luxury finishes. But beyond spending money on a faucet that looks good, a faucet that does not work correctly will not only waste water but also make you extremely frustrated.

According to Delta, single-lever handle ball (non-cartridge) faucets are the most common household type of faucet but can have constant water drips or leaks. To check the faucet, follow these steps:
