First 2 pictures are from a brochure dated 1949 on how to roast a turkey. It seems to be published by the Indiana Home Economics Extension Clubs. The picture of the sliced turkey is my own. Grandma had a roaster that was one of her most prized possessions, at least in the kitchen. She used it rarely but always for Christmas and Easter turkeys. The turkey was moist and beautifully browned. It was always filled with home made stuffing and the hit of our holiday dinners.

Roast Turkey in an Electric Roaster
Who is ready for Thanksgiving dinner? I’ve been married 20 years but can probably count on one hand the number of turkeys I’ve had to prepare on Thanksgiving day (Thank you moms!). I’ve cooked plenty of turkeys on normal every days, though. The thing with Thanksgiving is that if you are preparing the meal, you usually have A LOT of food to put through the oven. Make your life easier (and your turkey taste better) with this roast turkey recipe made in a roaster oven. Let’s talk about how to do it?
How Long to Cook A Turkey
Cook the turkey at 400 degrees for 1 hour. After 1 hour, turn the temperature down to 350 degrees and cook until the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees.
No one in my family eats the skin of the turkey, but I know crispy skin is a must for some people. If you want a crispy skin, wait until your bird is about half an hour away from being done, remove the lid, carefully remove the roasting pan with the turkey, and place the pan in a 350 degree preheated oven. Bake without the lid until the desired internal temperature is reached.
