TNTs Animal Kingdom continues with the Codys criminal heists and internal power struggle. Without Ellen Barkins Smurf to keep them in line, the kingdom threatens to unravel. J (Finn Cole) and Deran (Jake Weary) have teamed up to run things, but obstacles keep getting in their way. The latest is Popes (Shawn Hatosy) arrest for Catherines murder. However, in the background of all this drama is Craigs (Ben Robson) descent into addiction and his difficulties parenting his infant son Nick. Craig and Renns (Christina Ochoa) disturbing and dangerous behavior around their baby has many Animal Kingdom fans worried. Still, one moment in Season 6, Episode 9, “Gethsemane,” shows Craig has the potential to be a good father; he just needs to tap into it.
Craigs struggle with addiction is nothing new. Animal Kingdoms first season and onward has shown Craig using a myriad of drugs, from cannabis and alcohol to cocaine and oxycontin. While Season 6 saw him get clean and find a friend/sponsor in the mysterious Vince (Marcus Brown), Craig relapsed alongside Renn in the prior episode, “Revelation.” Together, the two went on a bender that saw their baby in multiple dangerous situations. With Nick also getting kidnapped earlier in the season, it seems Craig is epically failing in the parenting department. That said, Craigs intense moment with Pope suggests Craigs fate may not be all gloom and doom.

Billy follows her and invites her to go surfing with him sometime. Its a different exchange than weve seen with Smurf and men in the past. Shes used to being in control and, frankly, being in party settings or in danger. But she seems interested in learning more about Billy and from here, their relationship likely blooms.
